    Stingray X20 Sub Master Build

Hello everybody, I am the significant other of RCnut, lol. I've started this build log to show you what I'm building, Bit obvious that lol. I am doing the Sub that Agent X20 used in several episodes. The method used to construct the Master is the same RC used on the stingray. The size will compliment the Stingray and the terrorfish. Below are a couple of pictures of progress so far. It wont be as quick a build as RCs as I dont have as much time to devote as he does.

    Welcome aboard Linda,

Looks like a promising start, are you going to rc the fish also in the future?, about your time to spend at the fish, use the whip and force him to do some household work.

The keel and bulkheads, what material?

A simple pump-jet for this X-5 looking fish.

... what?! you're not done yet?

No sorry not done yet lol. The material I'm using is plasticard (styrene sheet). Afterwards I'll use filler in the gaps. As for powering it RC has got some ideas floating round already.

Well, as soon as I discharge my STINGRAY obligations let me know what I can do in the way of pump-jet, Sub-Driver or anything else I can do to help with X-20's ride. The gal in the shop is my counter-part, Ellie. Not much of a model builder, but one hell of a shop drone -- great at production work.

If I can't adapt one of my PJ's for the fish, then I can certainly manufacture a unit to do the job.

          Very interesting stuff.

          David

Welcome Linda! Thank you for your work on the terror fish. I look forward to this build too!
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

Do you still intend to articulate the tail on the terrorfish?

Thanks David that will be wicked if I can get the X20 to go underwater as well I'll be able to chase Stingray properly lol. We were thinking of using a Graupner mini jet and possibly using the tail fin as the rudder.

Subculture at the moment we're going to use the tail fin as a rudder but not articulate the the rear body.

Trout thank you for the welcome and as soon as the Terror Fish is molded I'll start a build thread on it.

                Linda

                  Linda,

I think we'll be best served by adapting the Moebius SEAVIEW axial-flow PJ for the X20 submarine -- taking advantage of the intake and nozzels axial orientation to one another. Using the bottom-of-the-boat intake like the commercial units employed on your STINGRAY and big SKY-DIVER is fine, but wasted effort within the straight-flow-path of the X20 submarines propulsion duct. What is the mean diameter of the propulsion duct aboard your model, Linda?

Here's the proposed pump-jet (that's Ellie, my partner-in-crime in the first shot):

                      OK.

I pull this stuff on Ellie all the time: she asks a simple question or presents a new idea, which sets me off to bloviate for the next five-minutes. She gives me that blank stare, wishing to Christ she never brought up the topic, her mouth agape at my performance. Then, she snaps, smacks the back of my head as she once again reminds me not to be such a self-assured, assertive, boring, smart-ass, and to speak English -- as she descends into a Tagalog flurry of words suggesting I have a questionable blood-line, my eye's are too round, and blah, blaah, .....blaaaah! I make a tactical retreat to the shop, only to hear the door bolt click, with a resounding thud, behind me. Not another word exchanged till meal-time!
