1:96 Soviet Alfa build

After her Maiden, I had a great time floating her and eventually decided that I need to learn ton detail the boat so it doesn't just look like a shadow all the time with a toothpick sticking out of the top. With some coaching, I started to gather material and purchased a Paasche H airbrush single stage and these pictures are the result of the first tape off and spraying. I wanted to do as much of this detailing with the 4 colors I had at the time and with some mixing, I was able to get a good first layer.

After the first layer, I wanted to do some rust streaks, but got a bit heavy handed, but was able to clean up my mess with the airbrush and carried on to the next layer.

Due to the hull being printed and not doing the proper prep work to smooth it out, I hand painted the outlines best I could and when I did the waterline, I got a surprise fuzzy line, but again I employed the airbrush and I actually liked the effect of the waterline snafu after I added some Schmutz color. She's not perfect but its my first attempt and practice for my next detail work on recently acquired USS Blueback.

Here she is finished with SEM products 1K HS Matte clear. I'm sure she will be great in the water and awesome due to being 20 foot scale (looks ok from 20 feet away). Thank you to those who coached me on the paint detail!
