    DONE!!!! This is the last build post for this model which started in 2006 (restarted in 2022). Thanks a million to Merriman for helping out in needed areas. This sub, like the Nautilus was a 'bucket-list' item to complete. The photos here don't do it justice. I thought the sun would help out, but it's just too big to get detail I guess. Anyway, I'm done and moving on and concentrating on other projects. So I finished the rigging and it was such a nice day I took the photos outside.

        Forgot, this is U-188, hence why it's all weathered to hell.

            I like the weathering on the deck. I have not seen this done like that. Well done.
            If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

                Tom, for some reason my access didn't work, and I'd request e-mail and it didn't respond. I've been busy so blew it off. This was since the turn of the year, and I have all the Cabin Fever photos, as well as he almost completed 1/96 Type XXI that is getting it's final painting for Cohutta. I had some time and tried today and all of a sudden whiz...bang, it worked. I've got a ton of **** to post.
                So the funny thing about the Type IX at Cabin Fever was that all these old guys kept touching it and were perplexed that it wasn't real metal. This happened like 40 times (humongous crowd). Crazy, Merriman and I took it to check the trim, as we worked on it 3-4 times last year. The pool was ultra-nasty. Dave made a video and put it on Youtube. He needs to have a speaker for the other person as you really can't hear the dialog well. It was a good time regardless.

                    I’m looking forward to seeing this at Cohutta. The work on mine has stalled.
                    Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on an overnight drunk, and in 10 days I'm going to set out to find the shark that ate my friend and destroy it. Anyone who wants to tag along is more than welcome.

                        Jake just turned up here for more 'touch-up' work on his big Type-9. Well... more that touch-up, I'm casting a new propeller (lost the port wheel at the JCC test run); rebuilding the stern plane operating shaft, horn and pushrod location; while he's installing additional weight and reducing above waterline foam -- all that based on the JCC test run last week.

                        At 4 PM, our time, we'll be on the zoom chat (DiveTribe stuff) so will be yakking about that work if anyone's interested. I'm also giving a talk on sheet metal-brass work. So, if you have not joined the DiveTribe, do so or suffer my wrath!
