    Maximus Ballast System

I have a Bronce 1/35 Type XXIII on the back burner.

Maximus are advertising a Ballast System with 450ML max capacity.

Is 450ML (15.2 Fl Ounces) enough to get the Bronco Type XXIII from waterline to fully submerged?

Going by the flow rate of their pump, if you use the full tank capacity 45 second dive times- yikes!!

        Thanks guys.

Yeah, I spotted the slow fill rate, a common issue with Maximus systems (they have a double pump for some units).

A 2.5 inch Sub Driver looking the better option.

The single-shaft SD for the 1/96 SKIPJACK will get her done. It's the one I've used on that kit. Plenty of reserve buoyancy in that ballast tank.

I think the peristaltic and bag system was first introduced to market by Norbert Bruggen. Later used by Thunder Tiger in their Neptune. It's works well enough for smaller displacements e,g, 250ml or less, but for larger displacements dive times are glacial. It does give very precise trim, good as a piston tank.

Dave's mentioned his WTC, there is also Ron Perrott's (R&R) 70mm module which should go in (just). That uses a geared water pump with a snorkel vented ballast tank. Dive times will be slower than Dave's wtc, but a bit quicker than the Maximus unit.
