German U-Boat Type VIIC (U552) Wolf Pack Submarine 1/72 Revell

I am new to submarine modeling (but not to RC) and and would like to convert a German U-Boat Type VIIC (U552) Wolf Pack Submarine 1/72 Revell kit to RC.

Can one of the experienced folks on this forum help me to identify the right list of items to buy from Sub-Driver.com to tackle this project? I have visited the site but am not 100% clear on what I should buy to fit this model. Hopefully someone here can help me with a good list. My two boys 12 and 14 years old are huge WWII buffs and I am hoping this will be a great Christmas present and an even better project to work together on in 2016. We just came back from Battleship Cove in MA and Groton Sub museum in CT and enthusiasm and motivation is high to tackle such a project. Your help to guide me and my sons is much appreciated.

Welcome! There are several builds on this site that are not Type VII, but will help. Go here for Cabal reports David Merriman did as he built one: http://support.caswellplating.com/in...-cabal-reports
These are a great resource for building a Type VII. Since those were written David also has a fittings kit to help (listed below).
If you are staying with Sub-Driver stuff (I recommend for a first or fifth time building) you will need:
    Sub-Driver - https://sub-driver.com/sub-drivers/2...ub-driver.html
    Fittings Kit - https://sub-driver.com/fittings-kits...tings-kit.html
Electronics - https://sub-driver.com/electronics/e...ics-kit-2.html This kit says discontinued, but it lists all the individual parts
Of course you know TX and RX 6Ch minimum. The tube is small in diameter, so keep that in mind.
Other things you may need are brass wire, tubes, glue, and whatever else others may recommend.
    Peace,
    Tom

If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

I have built one of the Revell's Type VIIC/41 subs, although I have been away from this part of the RC hobby for a while, I plan on getting back into operational use once more (had a small leak in the SD when I last touched the boat).

As Tom said, the tube and sub access is a bit tight as the SD slides in/out of the sub. The boat is a beauty to look at.

Here is the link to my original post: http://forum.sub-driver.com/forum/bu...i-build-advice

If you get the chance to visit Chicago museum houses (indoors) the fully restore U-Boat 505. Get the special tour pass which limits the guest to 20 or so for an exclusive inside/outside view of the boat.
