TYPE II C- D U-boats in Color Propaganda film

    Link: 2652389

U-Boat training school mid-way through film.

Note one Type II has a yellow painted fairwater (flotilla leader?)

Rare color photos stills from film of interior of bridge too.

Excellent reference! Thank you for digging this up.
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

I picked up a Type II from Bob at Subfest. I've been scouring the4 inter-webs for any and all info on them.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on an overnight drunk, and in 10 days I'm going to set out to find the shark that ate my friend and destroy it. Anyone who wants to tag along is more than welcome.

        Amazing footage.

I built a Type II at 1/35 scale. Still one of my favorite RCs:

Glad it helps. Sounds like the post was timely too. I used my screen image and crop down to image. I did a slight sharper image enhancement (needed very little)
and didn't touch the saturation or tones, so colors seen are same as in video (accurate). There were other views inside the boats, but if interesting, didn't consider
          important for modeling references.

Suspect these images were made mid to late 1940 or 1941. The boats look fresh painted, and the type II D ( see second image - suspect it is a Type D because
of is protective frame shape on fairwater) didn't enter service till June 1940. Expect all these images were taken in the Baltic.

Great pictures! Thanks for taking the time to enhance and post. I know yellow stripes were indicative of training boats but I've never seen an all yellow sail.
