(even if the answer is sometimes wrong).

Say, you're the only guy on SC now, aren't you, Mark? Other than you it's just cricket sounds over there.

    David,
    Who is John Galt?

Got any photos of the Los Angeles class? I remember seeing a few photos of the ringed prop and vortex attenuator few years back on a different site.

Some things should be left alone.

Well ive got a couple of builders threads over there that I update every couple of months. I spend most of my time at your site. Redboat219, Im sure that , that picture was on the Subcommittee website and id like to have it but I dont know where it is. Funny, its easier to get pictures of Russian propellors nowadays than to get American or British ones. Thats why I post alot of Russian stuff as its so easy to get.

On the WEBSTER, and other American SSBN's, launching from the surface was not the preferred means of launching, but an option.

If a controlled test shot, like we're seeing here, the appropriate Auxiliary tank would be flooded to put a list on the boat during launch. Nothing more embarrassing than to poop out a bird, have it fail to light the grain, and have the damned thing fall back on your boat.

I'm with the Wiz on this, unless it's just Photoshop.

Looks like a Sierra in the foreground overtaking a Kilo (or perhaps a Lada) in the background.

After I heard that it was believed that this was a picture of two subs close together , I zoomed in closely but I don't see it myself. So I thought that I would put several sub pictures in here at the same time so that maybe we could tell. Only three Russian project subs had the Passive sonar towing reel above the rudder. The Akula, Victor and Sierra. If you look at the limber holes forward of the sail in the first picture, they don't match the Akula(second picture). Also the slope of the back of the sail doesn't match the Akula Either. However if you look at the third picture of a Sierra II everything seems to match. The slightly flat to slightly forward slope on the front of the sail and matching limber holes. Of course the sail on the Sierra I is a different shape and the Victors deck is flat. So I'm going to put my money on the Sierra II. Any for or against?

I SPY a picture of a Borei class Russian ballistic missile submarines bow. Recognize it? It was removed from a cancelled submarines construction and grafted on to this Borei. What type of Russian submarine was it? I will give you a hint. It wasnt from another Borei.Click image for larger version
