New Toy For The Swimming Pool

Here is the new printer that I have ordered!


This the Flashforge Adventurer 5M Pro. It has a build plate size 220 X 220 X 220 mm, which is plenty for what I do. My old printer (Dremel 3D40 had a smaller build plate, and has done everything up to now for 30 years.



I currently have a Flashforge Adventurer 3, which I have used for 5 years, and I use it for my smaller print work. I have not had any problems at all with this printer.

The ne printer will arrive tomorrow, and I will give an assessment of what I think of it when I get it set up and operational (??) :-))

I need to get back to work on my shark!!

I am back at building the shark again!

I have my ne FLASHFORGE Adventurer 5 M Pro up and running. For $500.00 and with 220 X 220 X 220 build plate (larger than my old Dremel) it is perfect for my needs. If your looking for a new printer, you need to check this one out.

OK! Finaly after several not so good attempts.



Designing and re-designing I got the part that will adapt to my new thruster motors.



Have some other parts needed to make this all come together. My new Flashforge printer is doing a great job. This part toke only 10 min. at 100% infill and no supports...

Now for some French Toast.. :-))

OK! Everyone, I am looking for someone with more knowledge than I have concerning thruster designs.







The above photos above show the final design that I have come up with. The design reflects the exact size of the system that will fit into my shark body and will not interfere with any of the other structures involved. The opening that I designed (in my opinion) should allow enough water for the prop to create some thrust.

This whole project is a total experiment that may work (to some degree) or be a total disaster. (which I assure you I am used to) ;-))

Any in put on my design would be appreciated.

Have you done a tub test?
IMHO the duct needs to be longer with a gradual bend not 45°. Also the gill slits need to be angled more so as not to restrict flow.

I somehow knew that you would chime in on my question! And I thank you.



As you look inside the belly of the beast, you can readily see what I have to work with, and plus I cannot extend the thruster housing out any further and still be able to mount the head. I sort of new what I was in for when I made the decision to print the files smaller do to the size of my printers build plate. In fact, the originator of the files even told me that by sizing it down I would be running into size issues. Even some of our Dive Tribe members did not think it would work very well.

I am going to follow through with the build, and use my thruster design (as you suggested, try the thruster in the pool first) mount them up, open the fins up more, and "Go for it"

Maybe use a hairdryer to open up the gill slits some more...
