    1/72 Gato Conversion Info

Got back into working on this beastie, and, so far, things are going pretty well. Today will be spent on getting the shafts and struts installed. I know enough about that to be semi-dangerous. I was wondering if there is some place where I could go, or if someone could perhaps send pictures of; the methods for attaching the main deck hold-downs, the bow planes torque tube actuator (at the aft end), and how to do the torque tube fabrication and mounting? I have ideas and pictures in my noggin, but I would like to be successful in this endeavor, so I thought I would consult the experts!! BTW- before someone sends me off to Cabal Reports, a lot of what I'm after isn't in there.

    Thanks,
    Bill

Most excellent, sir!! A goodly bit of just what was needed! You have made this old knuckle-dragger a happy camper!! There is hope!!! Got anything that shows mounting of the head valve, and routing/mounting of the torque tube, going toward the bow??

Is the bow planes bellcrank (w/magnets) meant to pivot on the axle shaft, or does the whole assembly pivot in the "holder" rings that are glued to the hull?

Either one or both, Bill. The magnets keep the bell-crank centered on the shaft regardless. You want minimal torque drag here.
