    Estonia

Yesterday was the first day our local Bonefish restaurant was open, so we decided to eat out (thank you Lor'). Our bartender was very pleased to see us again, and we had him pretty much all to ourselves. It seems that most people were either unaware the restaurant was open, or they were just too scared to venture out.
So we knew this young man was an immigrant, (like us) and we got chatting about that. He was from Estonia (where?) Was it Russian, Communist? We had no idea. He told us just south of Finland and an independent nation.
He moved to the USA when he was 13. He was about 26 years old. He remembered the country well, and mentioned he'd been on a submarine in the harbor. (Don't ask me how submarines got into the conversation -I'm still baffled by that)

I had to find out more, as our bartender knew little else about the boat he visited.
An email to HWSNBN soon put me on the right track (thanks David) and we find the only boat it could have been was the LEMBIT, made in England by Vickers Armstrong in 1937. It was specially designed to take British and Finnish torpedoes.
You can read more about it here.

It looks a little like an S Class, only smaller.

Fascinating! I can't wait to go back to the Bonefish (nor can my wife) to tell the bartender what we've found.
