It is my understanding that I-400 was not painted red below the waterline, but was coated with a sonar-absorbing mixture of asbestos, glue and paint. What was the area covered by this coating? Below the waterline? The entire hull? And what should the color be? Dark Gray, I am guessing? Any ideas? Any opinions? -
herrmil, that site still says registration disabled. Its been saying that since April. I dont think that they want anymore people on there. Thanks for trying anyway.Leave a comment:

Let me know if you still have issues subscribing to that site since I have a lot more where those two came from - my book folder exceeds 16GB which covers a lot more besides subs.Leave a comment:

I-400: Japan' Secret Aircraft-Carrying Strike Submarine
You'll want to get I-400 by Sakaida, Nila & Takaki. It offers the best reference work on these monsters that, like the Yamato class battleships before them, were another example of the flawed Imperial Japanese Navy strategy.
Just don't post a photo of the heads... ewwwwyuck!!! :wink:Leave a comment:

Im not sure exactly where on the I-400 this is but the Tracks are not railroad style tracks but construction channel.
This is everything that I have on the I-400. Im hoping that it will be of assistance to your librarys or Model Building.Last edited by greenman407; 02-23-2011, 06:04 PM.Leave a comment:
