    Steve Vick's USS TRUTTA

I was digging through my negatives and ran across these ones that chronicled the excellent job Steve Vick did converting the Scale Shipyard 1/96 GATO/BALAO/TENCH kit into a very good representation of my old boat, the USS TRUTTA.

Steve did the model proper, I did the WTC. I developed a 'gear splitter' to derive a two-shaft (counterrotating) output from a single motor.

The time frame is the mid-90's.

    Dave,
She had that dorsal rudder mod when you were aboard?

Learning al about.these stinky old diesel boats. LOL Tons of neat stuff I never realized was there until actually starting the research.

No. A few boats in our squadron had them, but our topside mud-tank was free of that thing. I suppose Steve added it to improve the models turning radius in pools.
