    Radio Question

    Hello

I would like to ask members here, would a Futaba 6EXAP PCM1024 and the futaba R168DF receiver. Modified to 75Mhz FM, if Possible by Radio South, work for R.C submarine use, without issues?

I have a chance at buying one for a really good price in 72Mhz range.

Please let me know and if there are any issues.

    Thanks
    George

My experience with PCM is that its less than ideal for underwater use. Perhaps others have had a different experience. However, some PCM radios have a switch to change to PPM. The receivers that you mention are PPM receivers, judging from looking at the two that I have. Check first to see if your radio will also switch over to PPM. Then check with Tony to see if its possible to change from 72mhz over to 75mhz as you suggested.

I have a T6EXP radio that is PCM1024 as well as PPM capable. Perhaps your 6EXAP is also. Also the R168DFs are dual conversion. Make sure your radio will operate them. I know mine does. If you call Tony on the phone, he can straighten it all out.

Sorry, Im not sure what you are asking. If you are asking about your different options, I was referring to being able to run PCM receivers as well as PPM receivers.

                Hi greenman407
Yes that was what I was asking BUT again if I understand it, PCM had issues with r.c sub use and PPM was the way to go. OR is there more to this story? My basic interest is in reliable R.C sub dependable use receivers with this radio.

In my opinion, (humble as it may be) PPM is the way to go. I had a Futaba PCM radio that I used to use to run two or three of my submarines. Had radio trouble with everyone of them, until I switched to PPM. After that.....NO MORE radio issues. Then there was one less problem to deal with. I could then deal with ALL the others.

Tony Stilman has repaired two radios for me in the last two months. He can't fix everything though. He wasn't able to fix my Polk tracker due to unfamiliarity with the radio and lack of spares. But he did fix two of my Futaba Magnums
