    The Official SUBFEST 2024 Thread

Mark your calendars for Thursday, September 26th through Sunday, September 29th.

SUBFEST 2024 will be our fifth annual, tremendously successful RC submarine event. It is an opportunity for RC submarine enthusiasts to gather together to run their boats, see each other's projects, learn from each other, attend seminars, win prizes, compete against one another, and generally... have an awesome time.

SUBFEST is not only for sub skippers. Anyone is welcome and there is no better way to "get your feet wet" if you're thinking about getting into the hobby than coming in, talking about subs with experienced owners, and getting your hands on the sticks of a real, working RC submarine.

Full Skipper Registration offers unlimited access to the venue for operation of RC submarines in the beautiful waters of the Red Clay spring-fed pool, seminars, and competitions. It also provides 10 free tickets for the annual raffle.

Spectator Registration offers the same benefits, but without the ability to bring your own boat to run, and with no free raffle tickets included (though they are available for purchase at the venue)

Our awesome SUBFEST official event t-shirts will be returning and are included for free in your registration fee for Sub Skippers. Attendees can order t-shirts for delivery to the event for anyone pre-purchasing them . We will have a very limited amount of shirts available for purchase at the event, so if you want a shirt to commemorate your time at SUBFEST, I highly recommend purchasing them in advance.

A huge shout-out and thanks to our anonymous donor for generously contributing the venue fees for this year's event. His support will help to make SUBFEST 2024 one of the best ever.

If you want to help support the event, you can email me to set up a cash donation, or you can also donate submarine-related products to our raffle table. Last year saw thousands of dollars worth of amazing prizes available and we hope to top that this year thanks to people like you! To donate, please fill out the form (will be posted soon!)

In order to facilitate communication and hopefully gain more traction with potential attendees, I've create the SUBFEST 2024 Facebook Group. This page will host the majority of our updates, and will also provide a platform to share photos and video during and after the event.

    SUBFEST 2024 Facebook Group

This is a private group (to avoid spam posts), but all you need to do is apply for membership and I'll approve your request as quickly as possible.

On a related note, I'm happy to report that I got confirmation that we will soon have access to reduced rate event rooms at the Hampton Inn Ringgold. Room rate is $114/night. Once they get it in their system, the link to book will be put up, or I'd imagine you can simply call and book directly using the event name.

We need a good selling table with cash and no BS.
Of the 40,000 men who served on German submarines, 30,000 never returned.”

Like... the ones that we've had for the last four years? What is the problem with the last ones?

It’s not but a few weeks away, but we’ve had little chatter. Who all is going?

Me and maybe three of my bigger boats, and a **** load of folders with pictures of r/c submarine, static submarines, and techniques we practiced over our 40-year run as D&E Miniatures. I'll be transporting and will be working with Jake to get his big NAUTILUS, and Type-9 into the water and running.

Don't know if Fred will be able to make it with that big camera barge I put together for him -- some last-minute stuff might get in the way of his attending this year.

SUBFEST is shaping up to be pretty epic this year! Tons of skippers, tons of attendees.

I've networked with the resort management and they've confirmed that they'll be draining the water in advance and refilling. Water clarity should be superb. Onsite concessions open 9 to 2 every day. Daryl has stepped up once again, so we have onsite dinners Friday and Saturday evening.

I'll be bringing just a couple of working boats as I will be picking up the huge 1/32 Balao that was featured last year. I will have the Bond Lotus as well as my new 70" Disney Nautilus. If I have room, there could also be a pair of fully RTR subs, a Type VII and Gato, that are available for purchase. Look for TONS of boats, hulls, cylinders and other goodies that are going to be either donated to the raffle or sold off for ridiculously low prices.

It's still not too late to register!

Did you acquire the Balao again?
