h2o was in aft dry space (or should that be "slightly damp space") could be a pushrod seal or might need more grease around SD O rings... will test it again once I get manifold reattached to SD....

SD only had a tiny amount of water in it after second run (prehaps equal to 3 peas in volume)

You need any parts from me? List 'em and I'll blast them off to you. Don't know about your current motor, but the one you yanked was already spark-suppressed (internal cap's), and is very high-torque. Consider putting that sucker back in there.

Glad the new snorkel induction float-valve is getting it done. The SD staying dry for you?

Yup the little renshape dodad with 2 pipes facing aft and 1 fwd on top of ballast tank...my mate suggested having a short bit of brass tube to locate it in the hole prehaps. It came off due to me pulling the hose to hard at wrong angle!!

I changed the motor early on when I was getting a lot of interference in the SD which later turned out to be a bad BEC (from Hobbyking.....). The motor is similar to a rock crawler motor but I will do some more testing before swapping it back...

Hey Bruce! Lookin good! I would like to come down(way down) and run with you, but Austrailia is just a wee bit too far for the likes of me. At anyrate those Rock Crawler motors start at 35 turn and go up. Way too slow in the RPM dept. for that sub. May I suggest you go back to the Caswell/Merriman supplied twister. Youll be much happier with its get up and go! Cheers!

I am going to adjust the throttle endpoints on the Tx as she is a bit slower than predicted! I think they are at about 65% for ahead and 85% astern at moment.If turning the wick up doesn't do much I am planning on putting the originally supplied motor back in....

Would have gotten some more runs in and adjusted throttle settings on the weekend but when I was taking the upper hull off after 2nd run I pulled the fitting off top of ballast tank! I wasn't keen on doing a poolside repair in case of leaks!!!

Oh. I assumed you had a stock 3.5 SD in there. What motor did you go with? And is it geared? What came off, the external SAS four-point manifold?

To make these things better I gotta know what goes sour.

Pulled USS Shark out of her box last week for some system testing before the long weekend trip to Wagga Wagga NSW for the TF72 Carrier & Escorts event. Wednesday night was spent upgrading the float valve to the improved version and re-greasing push rod seals and O-rings on the end caps with some better grease, followed by several hours playing around with trying to get the surface trim better...still not happy with it so I will SUB-contract it out to Oztruck up north!! (A short 150km trip up past the Clare Valley wine region....ps that's 150km one way!!).

The Shark ran really well with a dry Subdriver on the first short test run, running nice and level while dived so I pulled it out to wait for Mick to arrive with his good camera! Once he was ready to take some pix I got the Shark back in and did a longer run with some deep dives and some good periscope depth runs...

Now I can finish off the paint job and get the decals on!

Finished the box for the Shark, Carry handles, and some latches all done....(awhiles back now.....ongoing PC dramas have kept me from doing a lot of posting). Been busy with long hours at work and will need to sit down with the Shark and sort out trim and ADF2 issues one day soon !! But not for a bit as the only reasonable test pond is fenced off due to a big music festival for next few weeks! It takes em' 2 weeks to set a up all the fences, about 3-4 days for the staging guys to setup two days for the gig then the packup !!

Noticed when cleaning the sub that one of the PE round gratings has fallen off someplace!! Grrrrrrrrrr

Been constructing a solid transport box for USS Shark. I have found that the slightest knock can send the stern planes and rudders out of alignment... I figure I have forked out a fair number of $$$ on this Sub so It should have a decent box to protect it!!

Here are some pics of the box. It is made of 7mm ply sheet with 19mm x42mm ply for stiffening and the base is a melamine(the laminex covered chipboard) shelf cut down to size. The chipboard base gives the box some weight down low for stabilty, as an after thought I made a internal box for Tx storage...

Have added handles on the ends and will put some wheels on it too...

USS California testing new 900 graupner motors at 85% power, WWII HMAS Hobart behind her

Nick's battleships, HMS Malaya and HMS Resolution, both built in remarkably short time.....as in less than SIX months each! It pays to be retired apparently!!
out in the anchorage we had 2 FFG's, 2 of the yet to be launched Hobart class DDG's and Nick's other model the USCG cutter.

CGN9 goin thru the shallows in a daring feat of navigation! Around the end pole of the awning is only 1m (ish) wide required some trick helm 'adjustments'....
