first time i was there i was surfing the TV for anything in English, first i found a show in Japanese about a Nursery for roses, that was 15 mins from where i live, bizarre, then Bridge on the River Quai, Not sure if they would be cheering or jeeringI happened to be walking through the airport in Tokyo, way back in 1968, on my way back to
Cam Ranh Bay Airbase in Vietnam, from a 45-day TDY in Southern Korea, and they were
showing "Bonanza" on the terminal t.v. system!
Pretty funny stuff seeing Hoss move his lips and being dubbed in Japanese! Dang near "soiled" mahself
laughing!!!Leave a comment:

People in Tokyo look down on the folks from the south, as they have a funny accent.
I like using the phrase "bochi bochi den na",
first most japanese assume westerners dont speak japanese
Second, this is a kansai expression which means "so so", not many people outside japan have ever heard it, let alone say it
So throw that in after speaking in English and watch the meeting dynamics change. No longer are they all talking to each other in Japanese, but they are also trying to figure out what they already said assuming that i didnt understand them. My japanese is actually rubbish, and missed most of what they said already but now ive got em nervous ;)

I can speak for the Germans having been related to them. There is a "high" German spoken by Northern Germany and a Southern (Bavarian) dialect. So in their own way, Yes!Leave a comment:

Im going to move the sail planes control from the left stick up and down over to the upper right rotary control that I use for the starboard propellor on twin prop boats. Also the SAS blower off of the left stick left to right up to the toggle switch on the upper left of the Polk radio. Thatll keep me from accidentally moving the sail planes while Im trying to submerge. Also having both methods of blowing ballast on the same control makes things more difficult for me. Where does one stop and the other begin. You cant hit the gas without hitting the SAS as well. Not necesarily a suggestion for anybody, just something for me.Leave a comment:

In the linked article, go down to "spillways". There it describes this phenomena as "Flow Separation".http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CavitationLeave a comment:

My Mom loves Robert Mitchum. So last night we watched the "Enemy Below". Pretty interesting view of a Destroyer Escorts difficulty in hunting a U- Boat.Leave a comment:
