Another question...
Redboat, you need a 3d-printer, print out a beginners model with proof electronic outfitting and have fun with it.
who cares if those parts work? You want a model for the pool, go for plastic and take care not to crash into something. You want a model for the pond, you go for metal and prepare for easy replacement since the next piece of floating wood in the way MIGHT actually be tougher than expected.
buy that kit, build it to your specs and try, whether one should fill in resin, drill holes or use them not at all. Thats an injected kit, not titanium. What could one expect?
You need to build, not to ask for every single detail and how this and that could be done. Leave that tiny KILO and aim at a larger size thats better to handle. ROBBE Seawolf and alike.ugly, yes, but with one of those you'd had a model in the water years ago.
Gathering informations will not get you closer to the pond...

David, are the "planks" (what are they called Sir?) steel or wood? Not sure how to paint & weather them? In your photos looks like you painted grey and added rust? What does a white stripe signify? Yellow is training? Anybody know how I should proceed?

White status bands on the sail appears to be a research mistake on the part of Bronco. I have it on good authority (thanks, Manfred), that the sail vertical and horizontal markigns, which were yellow, signified a boat undergoing work-up for eventual operational use. Using that logic -- the boat would not sortie far from base, and not for extended periods of time -- I assumed the portable decking would likely have remained in place on some of the training units. Just a guess -- I so wanted that decking in place to hide the many vent holes I drilled atop the models hull to vent the boat as it transitioned from submerged to surface trim and back.
