I see now. I used round rods, epoxy and baking soda attached lower halves first, checked for free movement then attached top halves. I am having trouble getting my head around the square tubes...

The square rod rotates about as well as traditional round rod in the bearing surfaces; provides a 'flat' for the pushrod control-horn set-screw; and provides a 'flat' for the set-screw set within the stern plane/rudder holding the operating shaft firmly in place within the control surface.

DavidM , I have received the castings from Bob in white metal. Do I file 1-4 and glue to 5 & 6, or do I solder? Sorry I am confused by them not being a single piece. Maybe my thinking is incorrect, please set me straight!

Hahaha, well eventually I may invest in a larger scale then my 1:96 Blueback to sail in a lake or pond, but right now I only sail in my pool and the 1:96 does ok but a tight squeeze. I also want to try 1:144 for easier transporting to my home that has the pool in my tiny JCW Mini Cooper! Lol

Biggsgolf did you also get the white metal props?

David, yes, I looked at those photos before asking how to assemble them. So I simply use aluminum tubes?

Yes. However it does not look like the Nautilus Drydocks has produced the cast metal parts hollow or pinned to accept aluminum tubes as I did with the original tooling and part production. I think you would be better off chopping off the snorkel head and boring it out for aluminum tubes, and scratch building the other antennas and scope heads and then mounting those to aluminum tube. Sorry.

All magnets in place for screwless separation of the hulls and the sail. Very happy with the hull lines which match up almost perfectly, will make some minor adjustments. Recieved my driveshaft from Harbor Models which is beautiful and perfect for my Kilo. Waiting on some aluminum tubes to make the scooes and antennas.
