Yes- I got some screen shots from some lady's scuba video-seems that she was wreck diving and along came Atlantis IX and the two divers spent 20 minutes with the sub "playing" like some happy whale circling around them.

The Atlantis IX and X are a class of subs and probably the only two 48 passenger versions with single thrusters and open aft structure (the two exact boats that I am looking for)


So I took some screen shots-also it is my only documentation of the exterior light positioning..

I still am searching, but it appears that at least Atlantis X had a single thruster and I am assuming that earlier than the Xs also did...I look this picture over constantly and can't find if a second thruster is hiding in the shadows (it also appears on centerline)-plus most of the brochures show a single thruster. -It would be so much easier with one prop-I was considering using a Graupner schottel drive to simulate the thruster but at 50mm it would be to big for a 1/24 build- so now I'll have to go to plan B... Or maybe plan BG.

I use PLA for most of my work. I'm thinking 1/36 scale which would give me around 21". I have been mistyping, I worked on XII but was at the launch of XIV. As far as I remember/know they all had two thrusters on all the subs. My model has fiberglass fairing on the stern because that was the way it was on the build I was on so you can't see all the angle that some of the pictures have.

Nice work Randy-what material are you going to use? and what scale? Is #XIV a twin thruster boat?-any chance for a look at the aft end? Exciting project ...Standing by for updates-BG

Randy-do you recall-is the stern thruster steerable ? and is it a standard shrouded 3 blade prop?

I retire next year and will have some time on my hands. May I contribute to this project?

The stern thrusters (2) are a simple set up, there is a thruster on either side of a post which they pivot around. If I remember correctly they could turn almost 90 degrees. The stern and bow thrusters were the same shrouded 3 blade set up. I'm still looking for my pictures which I put in a safe spot, obviously a very safe spot, the search continues.
