Tom I will order the materials today for your kit. Dave you have to love a Alfa. I have the best most scale Alfa plans on the planet. Got them from a guy in Russia. I thought about doing a 1/48 Alfa. Waiting for a SSY I-19 kit. I also have a SSY 1/48 type IX kit. Going to pore the appendage RTV molds today. Found some stupid flaws in the Victor sail mold so have to remake that. I am going blind and deaf.Last edited by 598602G; 07-21-2019, 01:13 PM. -
You got my mouth watering, Tim. You tease! Thanks Tom. I have to buy more materials to make a couple more kits. Dave I am laying up your hull today. Pics show a coat of epoxy resin and fiberglass powder. I brush in a coat of that so that all the detail in the molds get picked up with no voids. Then I start laying glass. Make the surface of the hull damn near bullet proof.
This beast will be the perfect stable mate for my 1/72 ALFA.

Yes I did, Tim. They appear to be the Amder (spelling) drawings. And they appear to be very accurate -- if you followed those, this is going to be a magnificent model. Second hull is just fine, Tim. Much appreciated. These are the sexiest boats to come out of the Cold War. The Malachite design bureau guys where more than naval architects, they were Artist's! Damned Ruskie's!

Here is the first hull out of the molds. Came out great. Hard to see all the detail in the hull before painting. Used 5 yards of 50" wide 6oz cloth. Took over a quart of resin. I can already see the time and materials in making one kit so like the other molds I made in the past I am only going to make a handful of these.3 Photos👍 1Leave a comment:

works for me. Stand by.I have a file with the 6 pages of drawings I used on my computer. Problem is I don't know what scale they will come out at. My hull is exactly 55" from the bow to the end of the stern not including the props. Send me a email and I will send you the file then you can resize. timcobb55@yahoo.com

Get me scale drawings of the ass end of this thing and whatever you have on the bow planes. I'll take it from there.

Sounds good to me. Taking a break on making the stern planes plug. The one stern plane is huge and is going to take a lot of casting resin for sure. I better buy some more.
