What Dave is talking about is referred to as “The Fleet Run”, it is held in Rocky Mount, NC and is a 1/96 & 1/100 only scale warship run. It is hosted by members of the Model Warships Underway forum (Not exclusive, but predominately surface warship modeling forum). People from across North America come to the event. Some guys drive from California with 9 foot Iowa class battleships. A guy from Florida drives up with his 12 foot Nimitz class carrier. Also someone from Canada.
In 2015 & 2017 we had 80+ warships from Submarines, Destroyers, Frigates, Cursers, Battleships, Aircraft Carriers, & Auxiliaries.

LOL, Bart. I get my double-sided sanding sticks from a beauty supply house in town. A fifty-unit bag of these things is cheap and they last forever. One-quarter the price for the same thing at the hobby-shop.
OK, I'm busted ... publically humiliated. Thanks, pal! No good deed goes unpunished.

I tend to get a bit 'aggressive' when other play-mates put their boats in the water. The outcome is indeed the occasional swapping of paint. I build strength into my submarines for that reason.
'Unfocused sub drivers'. Indeed. Believe me, when I'm running, the other sub-drivers who dare put their boats in the water become very attentive... very quickly. Or die.
Of course hostilities commence only if the other drivers are agreeable to a game of cat-and-mouse. Otherwise I steer clear, and become the perfect gentleman.
