OK, Bart. Lets see the drilling jig you made to get those holes just right.

Looks 3D printed. Is it Bart?
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

No, altough I used some machines, it’s handcrafted Tom, I will explain why:
          • First, I used a 3D printer, capable of printing Polyurethane foam up to 0.05 mm.
          • Next step I use a CNC router to get lost of the printing lines
          • To face off the pieces I used a CNC lathe
          • The final operation was to sand the whole thing down with 1500 grid sanding paper.
And by using this last-mentioned technique, which I think is highly skilled, I can say honestly that it is a HANDCRAFTED piece of ART.

As you will understand I’m leaving this forum for what it is for the next couple of weeks ……please sent me a PM when the unleashed dragon is calmed down.

          Grtz,
          Bart

I did not use a jig David
I designed the bow piece with the torpedo tubes as a separate section. This way I had a stable & rigid platform with a very low profile.

My first thought was to fabricate some plugs that go into the tube holes, 0.5mm smaller in diameter, so I will obtain a scribing effect. But looking at them now I think they look awesome without. For the potential assembler is would be nice that he could chose, leave them open or put the plugs in.
However, the later will mean that I have to integrate them when I layup the bow with fiberglass, probably I can only pull that off is by using chopped glass fibre.

            Grtz,
            Bart

                      Hi Gents, I'm back

Sorry for the AFK/MIA but I had to adress some personal issues

He Who Shall Not Be Named HardRock I have sent an e-mail.

Continued since last monday on the VCTOR III and started to work on scott's BELUGA.

Cut off the excess and sanded the parting lines on the hull halves, they match perfect good Job scott
Filling the pinholes with putty at the moment.....think I will finish it today.

Tomorrow I will post the progress on the VICTOR III

Damn it. Look at the holes in that thing. I'm going to send you a new one - that one is downright embarrasing.

Overnight Scott has gone from the swiss-cheese finish to a near flawless finish on his GRP hulls. A world of difference! I'll post some pictures of the 'improved' 1/96 BALUGA and 1/96 ALBACORE hulls tonight or over the weekend. Magnificent work.

No please don't…...it’s OK......I just finished it. I don't mind Scott, they are just a few pinholes mate. Ok some of them grouped up…..just to impress me…..beat them anyway.

I saw you improved hulls….yeah they look clean.

Those gratings in the sail how did you do that? So small but so detailed.

That first picture suggests the boat would look great with an an x-tail configuration. Not scale, but I bet it would a hoot to drive, especially with full flying control surfaces. Crossfire-Beluga!
